Bolton Wanderers are in the midst of a promotion battle following a positive first half of the season.

Ian Evatt’s side haven’t quite been able to keep pace with the league leaders out in front, but the Whites are firmly in the race for a play-off place.

As we approach the final games of 2022, Bolton will be looking to end the year on a high note with a run of good results.

Here we take a look at two former players of the club who could perfectly help with that task…

Rob Holding

The Arsenal defender emerged from the Bolton academy at the age of just 19-years old and became a key player for the side from the offset.

His performances earned him the attention of the Gunners, who signed him despite the team suffering relegation in the summer of 2016.

Since then, Holding has gone on to feature 84 times in the Premier League for Arsenal and has become a very useful squad player.

Having him as part of Evatt’s side now would instantly improve the defence, which has already looked quite solid so far this season.

His skill and experience is a step above that of League One and that could allow him to have quite an impact in this side.

Adam Armstrong

Armstrong spent a stint on loan with Bolton in 2017, appearing 20 times for the club before returning to parent side Newcastle United.

But since leaving the Magpies permanently in 2018, the forward has gone from strength to strength, having earned a move back to the Premier League with his performances for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.

The Southampton striker would be a great addition to Evatt’s attack, with his goals for Blackburn showing his prowess in front of goal at a lower level.

He scored 44 goals in 86 appearances across his final two campaigns with Rovers, and having that kind of finisher in the side would immediately boost Bolton’s chances of gaining promotion.
