Birmingham City have had a positive first portion of the Championship season under John Eustace.

The new manager arrived in the summer and got the team performing quite well relative to pre-season expectations.

The Blues have gone into the World Cup break 13th in the table, just three points adrift of the play-off places.

Impressive results have been earned while playing with an aggressive style of play that has made them tough to beat.

Here are two former Birmingham players that would fit perfectly into Eustace’s starting lineup to improve things further…

Jude Bellingham

The case for this is obvious, with Bellingham currently considered one of the best players in his position in the world.

His emerging talent has seen him become a starting member of England’s World Cup team.

The 19-year old was a supreme talent for the Blues at just 16, and has since gone on to play consistently in the Champions League and Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.

His talent in a team like this would improve everything about the team, with his ability to dictate play, his passing range and his ability to become a goal-scoring threat in the box.

If Bellingham returned to St. Andrew’s at this stage then it is fair to suggest that the club would become one of the favourites to earn promotion.

Jesse Lingard

Lingard spent a campaign on loan with the Blues before emerging as an academy graduate within the Manchester United first team squad.

However, at 29-years old, the playmaker would now make for a fine addition to Eustace’s side.

Lingard is currently competing with Nottingham Forest, and may not be quite at the peak of his powers any more.

His greatest strengths involve operating in space in a team that provides a killer threat on the counter-attack, which Lingard has an incredible talent for, making him an ideal former player for this team.
