Charlton Athletic will be looking to get back to winning ways in League One tomorrow when they head to Oakwell to face Barnsley.
The Addicks managed to rescue a point in their showdown with Fleetwood Town last weekend as Miles Leaburn’s effort cancelled out Callum Morton’s strike.
Currently 14th in the League One standings, Charlton will need to start to pick up positive results on a regular basis if they are to achieve a relative amount of success at this level during the current campaign.
Having missed this fixture after testing positive for Covid-19, Charlton boss Ben Garner is set to make his return to the touchline on Saturday.
It will be interesting to see whether the 42-year-old opts to make any changes to the team that lined up against Fleetwood.
Here, we have decided to take a look at two Charlton selection dilemmas Garner is facing ahead of his side’s meeting with the Reds…
Should Leaburn be handed a start in this fixture?
Introduced as a substitute in last weekend’s meeting with Fleetwood, Leaburn managed to produce a promising display in this particular fixture.
As well as scoring Charlton’s equaliser, Leaburn also provided one key pass and won two aerial duels as he recorded a WhoScored match rating of 7.34.
Having netted three goals at this level during the current campaign, the 18-year-old will unquestionably be confident in his ability to deliver the goods against Barnsley.
Leaburn could potentially replace Jayden Stockley in Charlton’s starting eleven as his team-mate has only managed to find the back of the net on one occasion this season despite making nine appearances in the third-tier.
Will Mandela Egbo be given the chance to impress?
Another player who will be keen to impress in tomorrow’s game is Mandela Egbo.
Signed in the summer transfer window by Charlton, Egbo has recently been forced to watch on from the sidelines due to a knee injury.
The defender was handed his competitive debut by Garner during last weekend’s draw with Fleetwood.
Providing that he is given the nod to start ahead of Sean Clare, Egbo could potentially bolster his chances of featuring regularly for Charlton over the course of the coming months if he delivers an assured display against Barnsley.
