2-1: Spain. Carvajal and Asensio through to the last 16 of the World Cup

The Spanish national side, with Carvajal and Asensio in their ranks, have booked their ticket for the last 16 of the Qatar World Cup. In spite of the defeat against Japan, Spain has made it through to the next round, coming second in Group E. They will face Morocco on Tuesday 6th December at 4.00pm (CET).

Spain went ahead thanks to a goal from Morata. However, goals from Doan and Tanaka gave Japan a 2-1 win. Carvajal and Asensio came on in the second half. In the other Group E match, Germany, with Rüdiger playing the full 90, beat Costa Rica 2-4. However, the Madrid defender's side finished third with four points and will not play the last 16.
