Real Madrid lost to Häcken in Gothenburg, Sweden, in the second match of the Women's Champions League group stage. Toril's side took an early lead through Bruun, but the Swedes managed to turn the scoreline around with two goals in the second half. The madridistas, who were looking for the victory until the end, had the lion's share of the chances throughout.
Both teams started brightly, but it was Madrid who gradually gained possession of the ball. It was then that our team began to threaten, and in the 9th minute Toril's team were penalised for a handball in the area by Luik, but the referee did not award the penalty. The reward came in the next move. Ivana unleashed a right-footed shot from the edge of the area, Falk got a hand to it and the ball rebounded off the post; Bruun, who was very attentive to beat their defence to the rebound and score to make it 1-0. Häcken's comeback Madrid continued to push forward, especially after the half-hour mark. Teresa tried her luck from long range in the 38th minute and Olga had the best chance before the break when her powerful left-foot shot from the edge of the area hit the post. Häcken began the second half on the front foot, and Kafaji equalised just before the hour mark when she pounced on a rebound in the Madrid box (59'). The goal spurred the home side on and they made it 2-1 a quarter of an hour later. A lightning-quick counter-attack was finished off by Kosola with a shot into the top corner. Real Madrid continued to push forward in search of an equaliser, but the scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle.
