2-0: Uruguay beaten by Portugal

Uruguay slipped to defeat against Portugal in their second fixture of the Qatar World Cup. Valverde was named in the starting line-up and played the full 90 minutes. The Portuguese bagged the three points courtesy of a brace from Bruno Fernandes, who scored his first from a direct cross in the 54th minute and his second from the penalty spot in stoppage time. Despite the defeat, Uruguay still have a chance of progressing to the Last 16 when they go head-to-head with Ghana (Friday, 2 December, 4 pm, CET).
