Real Madrid beat U. D. Las Palmas to clinch their sixth win in seven LaLiga games so far this season. Goals for Brahim and Joselu either side of half-time sealed a fourth successive victory for the team at the Santiago Bernabéu. There could well have been more goals, but for an inspired Valles performance, particularly in the first half. The one negative of the evening was an injury to Alaba, who was forced off in the 41st minute. Positives came in the form of returns for Vini Jr. and Ceballos, who received a standing ovation when they came off the bench with 57 minutes gone.
The first half saw a constant flow of Madrid chances, the home team winning the ball back quickly and driving towards the opposition box with purpose. The opening opportunity of the game was a fine one, as Brahim robbed the ball inside the opponents' box and linked with Joselu. The forward laid the ball to Rodrygo, but his strike was rifled straight at Valles' body. With 21 minutes gone, Rüdiger galloped forward and sent a perfect ball through to Joselu. The forward took it in his stride and bent it sweetly with his left boot, only for Valles to make another sublime stop. With half an hour gone, it was Curbelo who prevented Ancelotti's boys taking the lead when he sent a Rodrygo shot behind for a corner. On 33’ Valles once again showed off his rapid reactions, keeping out Nacho from point-blank range before Joselu had an almost identical chance, but again, the Canary Island-born shot-stopper was equal to it. Just as it looked like the game would head into the break all square, Brahim popped up to put Real Madrid in front in first-half injury time. Lucas Vázquez was on hand to set him up, the forward finishing from inside the box to make it 1-0.
The pattern of the game remained the same after half-time, but our team would find a breakthrough a bit quicker this time. Rodrygo whipped in a cross from the left and Joselu rose to power a fierce header into the back of the net on 54’. It could have been three with 74 minutes on the clock. Lucas Vázquez crossed for Rodrygo, who dummied sublimely to fool Valles, but Herrera hooked the ball off the line. From that point until the end, Madrid enjoyed some fine link-up between Vini Jr. and Rodrygo but the scoreline didn't budge from 2-0.
