Real Madrid were denied a win against Chelsea at Kingsmeadow Stadium. Toril's side fought until the end and had several chances to score, but with two second-half goals, the English side ran out winners. This was the first defeat in the Women's Champions League for our team, who are now focusing on their next game this week, against Alhama on Saturday at 6:15pm at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium.

It was Chelsea that were first to try their luck as Kirby's shot from the edge of the area was kept out by Misa with a good save. Esther hit back in the 20th minute when she got on the end of Zornoza's cross. Despite the English dominating possession, there was no clear danger for our team and the two sides went in at half-time with the scores level.

Luck deserts Madrid Real Madrid came out after the interval in search of a goal and after a fine run down the right, Feller swung in a cross that neither Esther nor Weir were able to convert (51'). Zornoza then tried from the edge of the area, but her shot flew into Berger's hands. Despite Madrid's best efforts, the game was decided in ten minutes when Chelsea struck twice: first Ingle in the 67th minute, and then Cuthbert with a cross-shot that Misa couldn't keep out.
