On 12 May 2004, under the presidency of Florentino Pérez, an event was held to mark the laying of the first stone at the best sporting complex in the world. Alfredo Di Stéfano and Dani Carvajal were charged with setting in motion a project which has gone on to become a source of great pride for all madridismo. Inaugurated on 30 September 2005, Real Madrid City has never stopped growing, as it maintains its status at the forefront of international sport.

It is the home of the football first team's day-to-day work, whether in the training facilities or the residence for match days. Real Madrid City is also the training base and home ground for the women's first team and the club's youth sides.
