The Newcastle United transfer window is now advancing towards its final stages.

Fans wondering if the extra attacking options are going to be successfully landed.

By day 22 of the Newcastle United transfer window, some £60m had been committed by NUFC, Sven Botman arriving on 1 July and following on from the purchases of Nick Pope and Matt Targett.

Fair to say that hopes of further signings were high, especially as an offer was already accepted by FC Reims for Hugo Ekitike, with just the striker needing to agree.

However, he decided on PSG instead and after that initial 22 day burst, the following 46 days have so far proved barren.

As things stand, it is now 16 days until the Newcastle United transfer window closes at 11pm on 1 September.

Tuesday morning has brought news of a claimed £23m offer for Joao Pedro, Watford reported to have turned down this opening bid for their 20 year old striker, though Newcastle United said to be now considering an improved offer.

As well as others, Newcastle United have also been linked in recent days with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja and Christian Pulisic.

That quartet are of course all Chelsea players and I think it looks increasingly likely that at least one Newcastle signing will come from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have a massive squad and have already made seven signings of their own this summer, from young players to more experienced.

I can see there being a lot of late activity in terms of outgoings at Chelsea and Newcastle signing one, possibly two, probably on initial loan(s).

Speculation about potential signings from Chelsea was further raised when at the weekend Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi were pictured (see above) as guests of Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali.

Initial claims after the takeover that other English clubs would refuse to deal with Newcastle’s new ownership, have proved very wide of the mark. A number of clubs having already been happy to do business with Newcastle United and zero doubt that the rest of them will also do the same, money talks.
