Japhet Tanganga finally has some minutes under his belt away from Tottenham Hotspur.
The English defender officially joined Millwall on loan this January, after what was a disastrous spell in the Bundesliga with Augsburg – where he played a total of zero minutes.
The last time Tanganga completed a full 90 minutes was a full year ago on the 28th of January 2023, when Tottenham Hotspur took on Preston in the FA Cup.
365 days later, Tanganga plays his first full 90 minutes in a Millwall shirt. Here’s how he got on.

Tanganga started as a right-sided centre-half against Preston North End for Millwall at the weekend, in a tough encounter that finished 1-1 at The Den.
Tanganga did have a solid game but was somewhat let down with his mistake for the Preston goal in the 33rd minute.
Brad Potts took advantage of Tanganga giving the ball away on his first start for the Lions and netted an equaliser for Preston after Millwall took the lead through Zian Flemming in the opening five.
But as we said – he was solid other than this. Considering it was his first full game in a year, he should be extremely happy with his full Lions debut.
This will feel like a new part of his career for Tanganga. Despite featuring predominantly for Tottenham as a young player, his path in football has been stunted by bad luck and injuries.
At just 24, his how footballing venture is still ahead of him, and Millwall is the exact place to kickstart it. A good start from him and we can’t wait to see what he’s capable of in the future.
