Huddersfield Town winger, Sorba Thomas, is insistent that he’s “100% ready” to play a part in Sunday’s play-off final with Nottingham Forest, just weeks after he was told his season was over.

Thomas limped out of Easter Monday’s win over Middlesbrough with his knee braced up in the post-match celebrations.

At the time, it was widely expected that Thomas’ season was finished and he admitted he was told as much before a trip to London to see a specialist.

“The injury happened and I tried to play on but physically I couldn’t,” Thomas explained at Huddersfield’s play-off final media day on Thursday.

“I got told that my season was done, so that was devastating. But I still thought that I’d carried on playing so there was no way I was done.

“I went to London to see a specialist and he told me that there was a possibility and that’s all I needed. That little motivation.

“I worked hard, I spent a lot of time in the swimming pool, a lot of time in the gym and, here I am, 100% ready to go on Sunday.

“I’m ready to go.”

The 23-year-old has, of course, already made his comeback.

Thomas stepped off the bench in the closing stages of Huddersfield’s play-off semi-final first leg with Luton Town, whilst he got the final 30 minutes of the return leg at the John Smith’s Stadium.

And, true to this season’s form, the Welsh international delivered a stunning free-kick for Jordan Rhodes, who poked Carlos Corberan’s side into a 2-1 aggregate lead and, ultimately, to a place at Wembley.

Nottingham Forest now stand between Huddersfield and a place in the Premier League.

After 16 assists this season, all eyes will be on Thomas’ set-piece creativity to see if he can unlock the Forest defence.

“Everyone knows the ability I’ve got at set-pieces,” Thomas admitted.

“I know that if I put the ball on the money or put it in a good area, there are a lot of top players and finishers in our team: (Danny) Ward, (Jordan) Rhodes. Even Naby Sarr, Tom Lees, I know they will put it away.”
