We’ve reached the ten-game mark in the Premier League season, and it’s been a thrilling one so far.

Arsenal are the early pace-setters, winning nine of their opening ten. Liverpool have been underwhelming, while Nottingham Forest and Leicester City are struggling to pick up points.

And, of course, we’ve seen several world-class performances. Here is our Team of the Season from the opening ten matches.

GK – Jose Sa (Wolverhampton Wanderers) – It’s been a difficult season for Wolverhampton Wanderers so far, finding themselves just one point above the relegation zone. They would likely be inside the bottom three had it not been for their goalkeeper.

Jose Sa has been a key man at Molineux, keeping four clean sheets in ten matches. He produced crucial penalty saves in the home fixtures against Fulham and Nottingham Forest, winning his side an extra three points.

RB – Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United) – With Reece James and Kyle Walker both doubtful and Trent Alexander-Arnold wildly out of form, Kieran Trippier looks like England’s first-choice right-back for the World Cup. In his current form, he will be a very good option.

The former Atletico Madrid man has been part of the best defence in the league, keeping four clean sheets and conceding only nine goals. Meanwhile, he also contributes plenty going forward, with one goal and one assist this season.

CB – William Saliba (Arsenal) – Arsenal fans were made to wait for William Saliba’s debut, having spent three years out on loan in his native France. But now he’s in the first team, and he’s producing consistent top-class performances.

The young Frenchman has been the standout in a solid Gunners backline. He’s contributed to four clean sheets, while also netting two goals.

CB – Conor Coady (Everton) – At the time of writing, Everton are two points above the relegation zone and are among the lowest scorers in the league. Defensively, however, they have been impressive – they boast the fewest goals conceded outside the top six and are yet to let in more than two in a game.

Wolves loanee Conor Coady has been rejuvenated at Goodison Park, playing a starring role alongside James Tarkowski in the Toffees’ defence.

LB – Joao Cancelo (Manchester City) – Joao Cancelo has been playing as a left-back for over a year now and is coming close to perfecting the role. The Portuguese has featured in every league game, scoring two, assisting one, and keeping five clean sheets.

CM – Granit Xhaka (Arsenal) – Since arriving in 2016, Granit Xhaka has been a divisive figure at the Emirates Stadium. Six years on, and the Swiss midfielder is finally producing his best stuff.

He’s provided everything you could want from a central midfielder. He’s been combative, good on the ball, and has started to add goals and assists to his game – from ten appearances, he has scored twice and assisted on three occasions.

CM – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Tottenham Hotspur) – The summer arrival of Yves Bissouma put Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s place in the starting line-up under threat. The Dane has responded perfectly to the pressure, cementing his place in Antonio Conte’s XI with several top displays.

His energy and composure in the middle of the park is vital to his side, and he has also begun to contribute more in attack. He has found the net three times, making him Tottenham Hotspur’s second-top scorer in the league.

CM – Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – Kevin De Bruyne has been arguably the best player in the Premier League since his big-money move from Wolfsburg to Manchester City in 2015. And right now, he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

In ten matches, he leads the league in the assists charts with nine – no other player has more than four. If he can keep this up, he could break the league’s record of 20, currently held by himself and Thierry Henry.

RW – Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) – Having been a regular in the Arsenal first team for over three years, it’s easy to forget that Bukayo Saka is only 21 years old. With every passing year, he seems to reach a new level.

The England international has been one of the Gunners’ standouts in their explosive beginning to the season. He is their leading creator with four assists, while only Gabriel Jesus has outdone his tally of four goals.

ST – Erling Haaland (Manchester City) – No explanation needed, really, but I’ll give one anyway.

If there were any doubts over how Erling Haaland would fare in the Premier League, they have very quickly been silenced. He has raced out in front in the Golden Boot race, netting 15 (yes, FIFTEEN) in his first ten outings, including three hat-tricks.

He needs 18 more in 28 games to break Mohamed Salah’s 38-game record. Can he do it? In his current form, of course he can.

LW – Phil Foden (Manchester City) – Phil Foden’s talent has always been clear for everyone to see. This year, he has started adding numbers to his game to justify the hype around him.

The 22-year-old has bagged six goals, making him the joint-fifth top scorer in the English top flight. Additionally, his figure of three assists is beaten by only three other players.
