Lyon striker Moussa Dembélé (26) is attracting interest from across Europe, most notably from Premier League clubs, although the player isn’t ruling out extending his deal at Les Gones, according to Foot Mercato.

Dembélé currently has three options: renew with Lyon, depart this summer to one of the many interested clubs, or leave on a free at the end of the season.

Foot Mercato reveal that the player has not “excluded” the idea of remaining with Lyon. The club have offered him an extension. Although Dembélé has said that he will “seriously consider” the offer, he has also asked to be given the time to do so after having spent four years at the club.

With his future undecided, Dembélé has experienced a difficult summer. During pre-season, he trained with the youngsters and the undesirables at the club. The arrival of Alexandre Lacazette has also seen Dembélé drop down the pecking order, although the latter has said that he sees no issue playing alongside the Arsenal man. However, it is true that Lacazette’s arrival as well as the question marks over a renewal have complicated his situation at the club.

Many clubs are interested in signing Dembélé for a fee this summer. In Spain, Villarreal have already made an approach, but without success. In Italy, he was also considered by Juventus, but Foot Mercato have revealed that the club has opted instead to sign another former Lyon player, Memphis Depay. However, Juventus, a club that like a free agent, are already considering signing Dembélé when his contract expires next summer.

At this point, Juventus will likely face severe competition, assuming of course that either he doesn’t leave this summer, or he doesn’t renew. Both of course are possibilities. Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, Atletico Madrid, Fulham, Wolverhampton, Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Everton all have an interest in signing Dembélé on a free.

However, the Frenchman reportedly has no desire to make a move to any of the aforementioned English sides. Dembélé “isn’t wanting to leave for the sake of leaving,” and he wants to join a project that interests him on a sporting, as well as on a financial level. The motivations of the player aren’t solely economic as he turned down a proposition from a Saudi Arabian club for €11m a year.
