There has not been much of either in WD18 this campaign, with Watford mid-table, threatening neither the relegation picture nor the play-off race come the sharp end of the season.

One shining light, however, has been the exciting young South American Yaser Asprilla, who has enjoyed another season of excellent development at Vicarage Road.

The Colombian first arrived at the club last summer, and went on to feature far more in his first campaign than expected, making 37 Championship appearances.

Despite showing glimpses of his undeniable talent in those matches, Asprilla has performed more consistently in 2023/24, and although he still has plenty of untapped potential, he has definitely taken a step forward.

As a result, several sides are now being linked with potential summer moves for the four-cap Colombian international.

One giant side said to be monitoring the Colombian at present is FC Barcelona, with the Catalan giants said to be keeping an eye on Asprilla this season.

According to a report from SPORT in Spain back in February, Asprilla is on Barcelona's summer wishlist, although they reportedly have concerns over his potential price tag.

The report claims that Watford would not accept a deal less than 40 or 50 million euros, but this seems excessive.

Elsewhere, Premier League outfit Everton are reported to have made a late January move for the young Colombian.

The Hornets were clearly not satisfied by this offer, and so Asprilla remained at Vicarage Road.

The latest reports on Yaser Asprilla's future suggest that his agent is already talking to several clubs ahead of a summer move, with negotiations underway with clubs in England, Italy and Spain.

With a move this summer looking increasingly likely, we wanted to know just what sort of fee Watford and their supporters are expecting this campaign.

To do this, we spoke to FLW's Watford fan pundit Justin Beattie, quizzing him on Asprilla and his potential valuation this summer.

"With regards to Yaser Asprilla, he's still a very young player. He did get awarded young player of the season, and he was also the player's choice for player of the season, so he's definitely highly thought of at Vicarage Road,"Justin explained to FLW.

"I don't think we'd want to see him leave. I think we'd like to see him for another season. He's an exciting player to watch. But, completely understand if his agent is already talking to other clubs.

"It's very, very difficult to put a price tag on Yaser," Justin continued.

"However, we've seen the likes of Joao Pedro go for £30 million, another young South American talent, so, I would guess, and it would only be a guess, that he wouldn't go for less than £10 million, and possibly that could rise to £15 million.

"When you consider that we sold Ashley Young for £9.5 million 20 years ago, you would think that in 2024, a player like Yaser Asprilla would be commanding somewhere between £10-15 million."

With Asprilla contracted at Vicarage Road until the summer of 2026, it will certainly be interesting to see what the future holds for the young star this summer, and indeed, if any clubs meet the 10-15 valuation touted above.

Given his talent and untapped potential, we dare say there will be clubs out there willing to match that price tag.
