Iñigo Pérez’s troops are of course in the early stages of preparations for a return to action.

After being afforded a break this past weekend owing to the scheduling of the Copa del Rey finale, the Franjirrojos will play host to Getafe on Saturday, in a La Liga meeting at the Estadio de Vallecas.

On Monday, Rayo’s stars, in turn, were put through their paces in Madrid.

Two considerable absentees, though, were noted, in the form of Radamel Falcao, and Álvaro García.

Frontman Falcao was forced to sit out last time out against Celta Vigo, with winger García having limped out of proceedings early on at Balaídos.

Their respective statuses for Saturday’s capital derby therefore remain up in the air.

On a more positive note, though, defender Aridane Hernández, after a spell of several weeks on the sidelines, was spotted back amongst the group on Monday.

He should therefore be available to face Getafe, alongside both Florian Lejeune and Raúl de Tomás, fresh off sitting out suspensions against Celta.
