Shakhtar Donetsk thrashed Metalist at the Arena Lviv ahead of their trip to take on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday. The madridistas’ next opponents, who secured their fourth victory in the Ukrainian league and remain unbeaten, dominated the clash from start to finish and put themselves on course for the victory early on with four first-half goals.
The visitors found themselves 0-3 up on the half-hour mark, courtesy of a brace from Sikan on 18´and 29´. The forward went on to score a hat-trick when he netted his side’s fourth in the 38th minute. Two minutes earlier, Zubkov had put Shakhtar three goals to the good. In the second half, Traoré made it 0-5 on 72´. Chidomere pulled a goal back for the hosts two minutes from the final whistle, but there was still time for the visitors to add to their tally, when Djurasek found the net in injury time.
