Ederson says he has been impressed with City’s January team strengthening.

With four new signings plus the arrival of Claudio Echeverri, the Brazilian keeper believes the quintet of players has been a huge plus at a crucial part of the season.

And he believes they are all excellent additions and building blocks for a refreshed City squad going forward.

“They’ve all been very positive for us,” said Ederson.

“We were needing reinforcements due to the number of injuries we have faced throughout the season.

“It’s been a lot of games for those who have  played a lot, especially when you start the season playing so many games, the risk of injury increases almost 100%.

“So I see the reinforcements as a very positive thing. Khusanov is great,  playing very well.

“Nico as well, he arrived to help in a position that we needed a lot, possibly the most important position in our team, having a player like that both in terms of creation and  defensively.

“And Omar up front as well; he arrived to give us extra energy, to help us, to make us stronger.

"Plus we have Vitor, who is a huge talent with a very promising future ahead of him.

“So I’m happy with all of them, along with Claudio [Echeverri] who has just arrived too, and will help.

“It’s great to bring these young players in and plan for the future. So I think that new options are always welcome.”

The popular City custodian admits it has been a tough season for the Club who have been unable to sustain the brilliance and consistency of recent successful campaigns.

Now in his eighth season with City and with 361 appearances under his belt, Ederson says despite the disappointments along the way in 2024/25, there is still much to look forward to.

“It’s true that this is a different season for us [not challenging for the Premier League or Champions League], especially for those of us who have been here for longer,” he said.

“It’s been a season out of the norm for us, especially after everything that we have produced over the last few years.

“It’s been a very difficult campaign for us, with a lot of injuries, individual performances that haven’t been as good... but’s that’s how football is.

“You’re not always able to give the best of yourself. Football is a team sport and if the eleven isn’t working then things have to be adjusted.

“So that’s the process that we are working through - a process with more lows than highs and it's true we’ve had more bad moments than good moments this season.

“But even in such an atypical season we’re still in the top five and trying to finish in the top four to qualify for the Champions League, because we know we have zero chance of lifting the Premier League this year.

“So we have to fight for Champions League qualification this season, and of course the FA Cup that we are still in.”
