1-2: Castilla fall short against Castellón

Real Madrid Castilla are dealt their first defeat of the season at the Alfredo Di Stéfano. The youth team failed to take any points against Castellón, despite having chances to have picked up a more positive result. The visitors went ahead soon after kick-off, through Mario Barco. Latasa then levelled at the start of the second half but a Kandoussi strike made it 1-2 with 63 minutes on the clock.

Castilla were forced to play with the scoreboard against them following the very first move of the game. The madridista response was rapid though and Miguel had a great chance to hit back on 8’ when his free-kick flew narrowly wide of the target. With fifteen minutes played, Peter also came within inches of a leveller when his deep cross from the right came back off the crossbar. The Whites continued to play their football in opposition territory, racking up the chances as the minutes ticked by. Arribas forced the goalkeeper into a super stop from the edge of the box, before Morante tried his luck with a headed effort with half-an-hour gone. On the stroke of half-time, Dotor then had another good chance, but off balance, he sent his shot skimming just wide of the post.

Our team retained the initiative following the half-time break and Peter quickly worked his way into the box only to see his effort saved by the visiting keeper. The Whites' insistence paid off with 55 minutes on the clock, as Peter whipped in a corner which Latasa smashed into the net first time to make it 1-1. However, it wasn't to be for Castilla and, eight minutes later, Kandoussi put the away side ahead once again, netting the decisive goal to make it 1-2.
