1-1: The Champions draw in Cádiz | OneFootball

Real Madrid were held to a draw in Cádiz in their final away fixture of the campaign. The LaLiga champions went in front following a stunning move by Rodrygo, capped off by Mariano. The Andalusians, however, levelled the score before the interval and could have made the score 2-1 in the second half but Negredo's penalty was saved by Lunin.

A strong start from Cádiz, who looked to strike early with two long-range efforts from Akapo and Alcaraz. Real Madrid's goal came with five minutes on the clock after brilliant play from Rodrygo. Collecting the ball on the left wing close to the half-way line, he skipped past every defender in his path before teeing up Mariano inside the box, who made it 1-0 with a fine finish. In the 12th minute, Ancelotti's side had the chance to increase their lead. Following a great run from his own half, Valverde laid the ball off to Mariano who played Asensio through on goal, only for Ledesma to keep him out after a one-on-one.

High intensity Cádiz went in search of an equaliser but Nacho denied the home side, intercepting a dangerous Negredo pass into the box which was heading towards Lucas Pérez. It wasn't long before the visitors hit back as Valverde's shot was deflected wide before Rodrygo and Mariano both failed to beat Ledesma. Sobrino levelled the scores with 37 minutes gone with a shot from inside the area that had hit Militão's back in the lead up to the goal. The second half got underway at the same level of intensity, with Real Madrid the first to go close when Casemiro tried his luck from distance (51’). Nine minutes later, the referee awarded a penalty to the hosts after a foul by Lunin on Negredo when the striker was one-on-one with the keeper. The forward dusted himself down to take the spot-kick, but the Ukrainian pulled off a spectacular save. Both sides continued to go in search of a second goal and Asensio almost made it 1-2 with a fierce strike that was turned away by Ledesma. Negredo once again found himself one-on-one with Lunin, but the shotstopper superbly saved with his feet to deny the striker from point-blank range. Ancelotti then introduced Carvajal, Ceballos and Hazard.

A flurry of chances Cádiz were playing to remain in the Primera Division and the battle between Negredo and Lunin once again took centre stage at the Nuevo Mirandilla, with the keeper saving well from the forward’s headed effort. In the 82nd minute, Ancelotti handed a debut to Latasa. Ceballos twice came close to winning it for Madrid. First, with a free-kick and then a shot from distance, but the scoreline stayed the same. The league champions will bring the LaLiga campaign to an end next weekend when they host Betis at the Santiago Bernabéu.
