Real Madrid drew against Chelsea in their bid for a place in the quarter-finals of the Women's Champions League. The madridistas played a great game and went ahead against Group A leaders thanks to a first-half goal from Weir. However, the English side equalised in the second half from the penalty spot.

Chelsea were first to create some danger when Kerr hit the crossbar with a powerful shot after a scramble in the box. Madrid's reaction came in the 24th minute through Olga, who tried her luck with a left-footed shot that nicked the woodwork. After 30 minutes, another Kerr shot was denied by the woodwork and, soon after, Toletti tried to surprise Berger with a long-range attempt. In the 36th minute Weir, after intercepting a pass from the Chelsea keeper, slotted home her fifth goal of the competition to give Real Madrid a 1-0 lead at the break.

Madrid search with no joy The intensity picked up after half time with both sides looking for goal. Madrid, with more of an attacking presence, tried sending crosses into the area. However, Reiten brought the scores level when she took advantage of a penalty conceded by Ivana (59th minute). We continued in search of the winning goal and, ten minutes from the end, Olga was close to being rewarded, however Berger prevented it in a one-on-one.
