I see another draw.

Bristol City and Preston played out a pretty dire game of football at the weekend and I am sure the Robins want to be a little more productive in front of goal this evening, so Nigel Pearson may look to shake things up.

However, they face a Luton side that doesn’t know when it’s beaten – summed up by their draw at Ewood Park at the weekend – and I expect the Hatters will be eager to build on that and also make sure they don’t suffer a similarly slow start this evening.

That in mind, I think we’re looking at another draw at Ashton Gate but with goals at least.

1-1.

It feels like it could be tricky for Bristol City to get back to winning ways on home soil this evening.

Having come from 2-0 down to snatch a late 2-2 draw with Blackburn on Saturday, Luton ought to arrive at Ashton Gate tonight brimming with confidence and ready to take the game to their hosts, given they are likely to be aware of Bristol City’s recent struggles on their own turf.

Indeed, Nathan Jones has also confirmed that he expects to have some of his recent absentees back which should further strengthen his Luton team, not least with Luke Berry’s two-goal cameo from the bench on his first appearance of the season on Saturday meaning he ought to offset the potential loss of Allan Campbell.

This therefore, looks like it could still be an even game between two sides who can barely be split in the league table at the minute, though Luton’s momentum from that late show on Saturday might just see them over the line against a Bristol City side still under pressure on their own patch. 2-1 away win.

Bristol City have made a steady start to the campaign, and whilst it seems that they have moved past last season’s turbulent finish, their dismal home record remains.

Despite their home troubles, they will view tonight’s clash with Luton Town as a winnable game. Nigel Pearson will not be letting his players dwell on these recurring problems at Ashton gate, instead, he will be best-preparing his side to secure three points.

Luton will travel with confidence however, after Saturday’s comeback against Blackburn Rovers. The Hatters possess the same record as The Robins, and barring being on the wrong end of a 5-0 thrashing against Birmingham, they have started the new season relatively well.

Luton are suffering with several first-team players missing at the moment, and that is something that Pearson will look to capitalise on, although, that makes it increasingly difficult for him to predict how Luton will set up.

There are positive signs at Ashton gate at the moment, and they have every chance of ending their run here, but I believe a 1-1 draw is a fairer assessment.
