1-0: Castilla slip to defeat in Tarragona | OneFootball

Real Madrid Castilla came away empty handed from Gimnàstic de Tarragona (1-0) on matchday 22 of the Primera RFEF and were unable to extend their unbeaten run to six games. The Madrid academy side threw everything at the Catalonian team and had chances to score, but couldn’t find an equaliser after the hosts had scored in the first half.

Few clear chances were created in the opening 15 minutes, until the madridistas went close when Mario Martín produced a fierce strike from the edge of the area. The hosts replied soon after through Del Campo on 28’. Raúl’s side then went in search of the first goal. First, Álvaro’s header missed the target and then Dotor curled an effort onto the post. However, the hosts got the breakthrough on the stroke of half-time when Bonilla put Gimnàstic ahead from the edge of the box.

Plenty of chances for Castilla Soon after the restart, Castilla almost found an equaliser when a corner swung in by Peter was met by Gila but the hosts’ goalkeeper clawed the ball off the line. On 78’, Arribas produced a fine piece of individual skill in the opposition area, but his shot was blocked by Manu García. The Whites continued to search for a leveller and carved out their best chance of the game two minutes later. A pass over the top by Nico found Álvaro who controlled the ball well in the box, but his strike was cleared by the outstretched Trilles. Despite the abundance of chances created by Raúl’s men, Gimnàstic managed to hold on for the win.
