Savinho is unsure of his future at Manchester City amid growing interest from Tottenham, who are set to make an improved offer for the Brazilian attacker, as per a new report.
Tottenham have approached Manchester City over a possible deal for the 21-year-old winger, who joined the Blues from CFG-owned side Troyes last summer and managed 16 goal contributions in 48 appearances across all competitions in his debut year in England.
City have improved their frontline with the additions of Rayan Cherki and Omar Marmoush since January, with Guardiola overly reliant on Erling Haaland to deliver the goods last season after Julian Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid for £82 million.
A trip to Wolves awaits Guardiola and co this weekend as they begin their 2025-26 Premier League campaign following a major transfer window overhaul, which has witnessed the acquisition of six new signings as well as the departures of Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, Scott Carson and Jack Grealish (on loan to Everton).
After introducing several fresh faces to a burnt-out dressing room this summer, Manchester City’s newly-appointed sporting director Hugo Viana has been told to trim the squad further by Guardiola before the transfer window closes on September 1.
James McAtee is expected to complete a permanent transfer to Nottingham Forest this week as talks continue between Manchester City and City Ground officials over a deal for the 22-year-old Englishman, which is likely to include the insertion of a sell-on clause by McAtee’s boyhood club.
Vitor Reis, who joined City from Palmeiras in January as part of a £181.5 million outlay, has joined Girona on a season-long loan for regular first-team opportunities, with John Stones set to stay at the Etihad Stadium into the final year of his contract.
Savinho could be next to depart should the Brazil international express a desire to leave Manchester City and Tottenham – who have held a tricky relationship with Etihad Stadium bosses owing to their dealings in the transfer market over the years – present an acceptable offer for the young forward.
Mail Sport’s Jack Gaughan has reported that Tottenham are set to test Manchester City’s resolve to keep hold of Savinho with an offer north of £50 million – which would meet the Blues’ valuation of the winger.
Sources close to the Etihad Stadium maintain that Manchester City do not wish to sell Savinho and consider the forward part of their plans for 2025-26 campaign, with a sale only possible in the event of the attacker informing the club he wants to leave and an offer arrive to the table that City can not turn down.
City have identified Real Madrid star Rodrgyo as their preferred replacement for Savinho, who is unsure of his future at the Etihad Stadium amidst a period of transition for the club, who will look to strengthen their pursuit of Rodrgyo should Tottenham close a deal for Savinho.
It remains to be seen whether Savinho is named in Manchester City’s travelling squad for the Premier League opening clash away at Wolves this weekend, with the Blues aiming to win a fifth league title in six years after a disappointing third-place finish last term.
