The agent of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has commented on where his client’s next club may lie as the Italian’s camp searches for a new club ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Donnarumma will leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer after manager Luis Enrique confirmed the club’s stance on the 26-year-old, who joined the UEFA Champions League winners on a free transfer from boyhood club AC Milan in 2021.
Three months on from leading the Parisiens to their maiden UEFA Champions League title, Donnarumma has been told to find a new club by the PSG faithful to put an end to what has been one of the contract sagas of the summer.
Manchester United and Manchester City are among those interested in the shotstopper, who has 12 months left on his current deal at the Parc des Princes, and failed to agree on contract renewal terms with the PSG board over the course of negotiations.
City have overhauled their goalkeeping department already this summer with the additions of Marcus Bettinelli and James Trafford, with Scott Carson let go as the 39-year-old approached the end of his contract.
Ederson’s future remains in doubt amid reports of an contractual agreement with Galatasaray, who are keen on signing the Manchester City star as he enters the final year of his current deal at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City – who also expect Stefan Ortega Moreno to leave permanently this summer – will not block an exit for Ederson should an acceptable offer be tabled that would allow the club to cash in on the six-time Premier League winner, who joined the Blues for £35 million from Benfica in 2017.
Donnarumma is on the market and after reportedly holding direct talks with Pep Guardiola, Manchester City have reached an agreement on personal terms with the 26-year-old as the negotiate a price with Paris Saint-Germain.
In the aftermath of the Paris Saint-Germain board telling the Donnarumma camp that the Italian needs to leave the club this summer, the Italy international’s agent has spoken to the media to relay his frustration over the situation.
“We will consider solutions now, maybe in Premier League there will be clubs able to pay what’s needed. Paris Saint-Germain are asking for big money. They talk about respect, but it’s only about the money,” said Enzo Raiola in an interview with Sky, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Donnarumma’s camp had been in talks with PSG for months over a new contract but discussions reached a stumbling block owing to a disagreement over the wages on offer – a standoff that has now reached a conclusion in the manner of a parting of ways.
“We are shocked by PSG,” Raiola added. “There’s zero respect by the club after four years together. We will consider the situation also with our legal team. Gigio (Donnarumma) was even ready to reduce his salary but PSG changed the conditions again.”
