According to a fresh report from MARCA, Barcelona have officially ended their transfer business for the summer window.

Sporting director Deco and first-team manager Hansi Flick have agreed there will be no more signings ahead of the new season.

No new defensive signing

In recent days, there had been speculation about bringing in a new centre-back following Inigo Martinez’s unexpected move to Al Nassr.

Flick himself spoke to the media after the Gamper Trophy match against Como and stated that it was a matter he would discuss with Deco. However, it now seems that the idea has been shelved.

The German tactician is confident he can rely on the four central defenders already in the squad – Pau Cubarsi, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, and Eric Garcia.

Barcelona also have versatile options in reserve. Jules Kounde, now primarily used at right-back, can move to central defence if needed.

Gerard Martin, set to be officially promoted to the first team, is Balde’s deputy at left-back but has also shown in pre-season that he can play as a left-sided centre-back.

Major exits unlikely

The only scenario in which Barcelona might make a late signing is if a player leaves in the next few days, something considered unlikely.

In recent days, there were rumours of a possible late departure surrounding the likes of Araujo, Marc Casado, and Fermin Lopez. However, they have all reiterated their commitment to staying and will stay put.

So, the only departures that are expected to take place involve out-of-favour players like Inaki Pena and Hector Fort, who are not in Flick’s plans.

The focus now is on resolving the registration issues before La Liga starts. Barça believe their current squad can cope.

Any reinforcements needed due to injuries or absences would be pursued in the January transfer window by which time they hope to have addressed their fair play situation and raised funds for future signings.
