Rasmus Højland was introduced to the home crowd prior to kick off with the Danish striker become the latest addition to the United squad.

Erik ten Hag named what amount to his strongest side here at Old Trafford with Mason Mount, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes all in midfield.

And it was the England international who had the first real chance of the game as he had the goal at his mercy after good work from Alejandro Garnacho, but Mount tripped over his feet and failed to connect with the ball.

But it was the Ligue 1 side that took the lead as Florian Soroca netted after a speculative long-range effort caught out Andre Onana, who was chipped with the goalkeeper in no man’s land

After the break and United immediately found the equaliser they were looking for as Marcus Rashford made up for his quiet first half by finishing well.

Just five minutes later the Red Devils got themselves ahead as Antony saw a rare shot on target go in.

United were really clicking now and got their third just a few minutes later as Rashford’s header hit Casemiro and found the back of the net.
