According to Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport Brighton & Hove Albion are set to overtake both Marseille and Southampton for Braga’s young centre-forward Vitinha (22) with an offer of €30m being put on the table. This will meet the player’s release clause, with the deal now reportedly in the final stages.

It was reported by L’Équipe that Marseille opened talks to sign the striker earlier in the day, with president Pablo Longoria and sporting director Javier Ribalta pushing for a deal for the U21 Portugal international. However, the Olympian representatives were only wiling to submit an offer close to €20m for the striker – as Hawkins also confirmed today.

Vitinha, who is considered in the same vein as Benfica striker Gonçalo Ramos (21) as one of Portugal’s rising talents, has made 17 appearances in the Liga Portugal this season. In this time he scored seven goals and provided three assists whilst also scoring four goals in his five Europa league appearances. The Seagulls will be looking to conclude the deal in the last day of the transfer window.
