L’Équipe are reporting that OGC Nice have had a €15m offer for FC Lorient’s Terem Moffi (23) rejected, and have since returned with an improved bid. Talks between the clubs are ongoing with Premier League sides also circling.

According to L’Équipe, Southampton and West Ham United have both made opening offers for Moffi, and both of them have been rejected by Les Merlus.

Nigerian forward Moffi has enjoyed a blistering first half of the Ligue 1 season. Only Kylian Mbappé (24) has scored more than his 11 goals in the French top flight so far. He added to his tally with a fine finish against Monaco on Wednesday, which ultimately earned his side a point.

Those performances have caught the eye of Nice, who are looking to bring in reinforcements in order to jumpstart their stalling season. Les Aiglons have already had a €15m bid rejected, but have returned with an improved offer of €18m in the last few hours. However, Les Merlus are reportedly looking for €30m for the player that they signed for just €8m from Courtrai back in 2021.

The management are, however, aware that this fee may be difficult to obtain given that the Nigerian’s contract will expire at the end of next season. The player himself is keen to continue his development in France, rather than move abroad, according to L’Équipe.

Foot Mercato have added that Moffi already has an agreement in place to join Nice. That agreement was reportedly struck on New Year’s Eve.
