Southampton sit 18th in the Premier League table after a 4-1 loss to Newcastle on Sunday and the club is now prepared to bring in another manager.
According to a new report from The Athletic following the result, Southampton have now opted to sack Ralph Hasenhüttl as they hope to change the situation at the club.
The decision will be made either during the World Cup break or before their clash with Liverpool at Anfield next Saturday.
When asked if he thinks he had managed his final game at Southampton on Sunday, the 55-year-old said: “I have made a lot of decisions in my time here. Thankfully, I don’t have to make that decision.”
“I can not say the effort wasn’t there, but in the moment we are not taking the reward for the effort on the pitch.”
Hasenhüttl took over at Southampton in December 2018 after leaving RB Leipzig and has kept his side in the Premier League ever since.
However, his current record of three wins, three draws and eight losses in the opening 14 games this season means the club believes it is time to move on.
