Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has admitted he'd consider a move away from the Bundesliga in the future.

The 27-year-old is widely regarded as one of the world's finest midfielders but has spent his entire career playing in Germany, first playing for RB Leipzig for two years before joining Bayern in 2015.

Kimmich has enjoyed great success in Bavaria, winning seven Bundesliga titles, four DFB-Pokal crowns and the Champions League, and has never really been linked with a move away.

However, in an interview with So Foot, Kimmich revealed that he'd be open to the idea of playing abroad at some point in the future, and admitted that he has a desire to 'discover' something new.

"That would be an interesting challenge. I don't know what will happen in a few years, we'll see," Kimmich said.

"I have a very good coach who is an advocate of attractive football. I have a lot of fun here, but somewhere in my head there is always this professional and personal challenge of one day reaching new horizons to discover."

Kimmich, who recently netted his fourth international goal for Germany in the 1-1 Nations League draw with Italy, also revealed that he'd considered his future at Bayern when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge, when a brief spell out of the team left him pondering his next steps.

“Back then, when I wasn't playing as much as I would have liked, I thought about leaving the club for a while. So Carlo [Ancelotti] left, I was a regular player again, we won everything and the question never came up again."

Kimmich operates primarily as a defensive midfielder for Bayern Munich but is so highly regarded because of his ability to play at right-back, as well as in more advanced midfield positions when required.
