Manchester United are thought to be eyeing a swoop for J-League goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
The story comes from Japanese outlet Sponichi and it suggests Suzuki has been on Manchester United’s radar since 2017.
Sponichi claims United have made a formal offer of £5m for Suzuki and that could make the 20-year-old the most expensive signing in the history of the J League. A huge moment for his club Urawa Red Diamonds. It’s even suggested an announcement could be made imminently.
Born in Arkansas in 2002, Suzuki came through the ranks at international level for Japan from U15 and he has since earned his first senior cap.

The process of a talented young footballer being linked with a move to United is nothing new. But in Suzuki, there is a chance the Reds could have a good prospect as our back-up option to Andre Onana, should that deal go through — for a mere £5m?
It had already been mooted that Ten Hag would be looking into the market for young keepers, but none of us thought his search would stretch as far as Japan. It’s encouraging news and I thought his staff to make the right call on whether Suzuki has what it takes.
