Manchester United ended their four-match losing streak with a 2-2 Premier League draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The Red Devils went into the derby as massive underdogs, considering the hosts were flying high at the top of the table with 14 league wins.

However, United delivered a sublime performance to keep the opposition at bay. Arne Slot’s side were restricted to only six shots on target.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils had four shots of their own. Lisandro Martinez opened the scoring with a powerful strike to beat goalkeeper Alisson.

United went behind after goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, but Amad Diallo put them level again. Harry Maguire missed a late chance to bag the winner.

Fernandes was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch. Luke Shaw and David de Gea praised him on his Instagram post after the game.

Shaw said: ‘You are so good’. De Gea simply replied ‘captain’. Here are screenshots.

Fernandes had a decent passing accuracy of 71 percent but was brilliant in other aspects.

The Portuguese created four chances in the game, one of which led to Martinez’s opening goal.

He won 11 duels with eight recoveries and completed 100 percent of his dribbles (3/3).

Fernandes stepped up for the big occasion and deserves the praise coming his way.

The 30-year-old has not been in supreme form this campaign, but he has still registered 17 goal contributions from 28 appearances across all competitions.

United climbed to 13th in the table after yesterday’s exciting draw, but they have much work to do to qualify for European football through the league campaign.

The club’s immediate focus should turn to the FA Cup third round. United face fierce rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. They need a strong performance to beat them.
