The South Korean’s ability has never been in doubt, but there was huge questions over his consistency, Something that’s he’s badly lacked since his move from Gangwon FC in the summer of 2023. His recent appearances though have over the last month or so shown that he’s working hard to rectify those weaknesses in his game.

Brendan’s Midas Touch

Brendan Rodgers has something of a midas touch when it comes to improving players, but it seemed that Yang was one of those rare instances of a player failing to improve under the Irishman’s leadership, or at least it was taking longer than has been the case with others, notably Nicolas Kühn and Daizen Maeda who have been up there with the very best players in the country this season.

Yang now making an impact in games

However these past weeks has seen the South Korean international pick up the gauntlet thrown down by his boss, and he’s looked like a player very much intent on making his mark in this Celtic side. Yang is now making an impact on games as his goal last night demonstrated.

Yang has three more seasons on his Celtic contract

Yang though has plenty of time left on his five-year Celtic deal and is looking like a player on a mission. Brendan Rodgers will be well aware of this and the word from the training ground all season was that Yang was looking great there but didn’t seem to translate that into decent contributions on match-days. The manager persevered knowing there’s a player there and is now getting his reward.
