Shaw braces helps Man City to Liverpool demolition

Scorers: Shaw 30', 43', Roord 60', Prior 77'

Both sides had big chances to score in the opening exchanges, but it was Khadija Shaw – returning to the starting XI after suffering from racist abuse – who broke the deadlock.

The Jamaica international latched on to a perfectly weighted pass from Mary Fowler inside the box, to turn and supply one of her trademark deadly finishes.

Just before half time, the duo struck again as Fowler fed Shaw, who unleashed a wicked effort with a scissor-action kick.

City made it three when Jill Roord smashed her right-footed shot from the edge of the box into a Liverpool defender, but got a second bite of the cherry from the rebound and drilled the ball home with her left.

The fourth came from 20-year-old Gracie Prior in what was her first start in the WSL, as what initially looked like a cross sailed in over goalkeeper Teagan Micah.

The win leaves Man City in fourth place in the WSL table, two points behind rivals Arsenal.

Chelsea battle back to last-gasp win over Everton

Scorers: Gago 51'; Ramírez 62', James 90+2'

Chelsea came back to earn a hard-fought 2-1 win over Everton that marked their 13th win from 14 games this season.

The away side shocked Chelsea early in the second half as they aggressively won the ball back high up the pitch, and an unmarked Kelly Gago ran the ball down the left wing, finishing with a stunning left footed shot across the goal that went high into the back of the net.

It took Sonia Bompastor's side just ten minutes to find the equaliser, through an individual piece of brilliance from Mayra Ramírez, as she turned in the box and finished from what looked to be an impossible angle.

Just as it looked like Everton had secured a draw, up popped Lauren James with a left-footed effort from outside the box in stoppage time to complete the turnaround.

That results leaves Chelsea seven points clear of second-placed Manchester United.

West Ham record big home win over Brighton

Scorers: Martinez 11', Ueki 64' Asseyi 68' (PEN); Parris 14'

West Ham turned on the style in a 3-1 win over Brighton.

The home side came out of the blocks flying as Riko Ueki's diving header was parried by Brighton stopper Melina Loeck, only for Shekiera Martinez to react quickest and hit home with the rebound.

The Seagulls rallied quickly though, as Nikita Parris tapped home a close range shot from a dangerous cross that flew across the box.

In the second half, the Hammers sparked back into life and Riko Ueki drilled a low shot beyond Loeck, and striker Viviane Asseyi tucked away a penalty to put her side firmly in the driving seat.

That win leaves the Hammers up to eighth in the table, while Brighton have lost ground in the race for the top four.

Leicester win key clash at the bottom of the WSL table

Scorers: Cayman 29', 49', Thibaud 50'

Leicester ran out 3-0 winners over relegation rivals Aston Villa.

The home side took the lead when Janice Cayman got on the end of a long ball over the top and stabbed the ball beyond Aston Villa stopper Sabrina D'Angelo.

Into the second half and Cayman struck again, this time with a stunning volley from the edge of the box.

Leicester then rammed their advantage home with another goal just a minute later, the ball nodded in by Julie Thibaud following a corner.

The Foxes have now leapfrogged Villa in the table and have carved out a two point cushion over their rivals.

Man Utd keep pressure at the top with Palace win

Scorers: Terland 9', 64', Clinton 85'; Gejl 38'

Manchester United came back to beat Crystal Palace by a 3-1 scoreline, with Elisabeth Terland netting a brace.

Marc Skinner's in-form side opened the scoring early, when a well-worked passing move carved open the Crystal Palace defence, allowing space for Elisabeth Terland to sweep a low shot into the bottom corner.

But struggling Palace hadn't read the script, and fired in an equaliser just before half-time, Millie Gejl finished a superb team move that was started by goalkeeper Milla-Maj Majasaari and looked as if it had come straight from the training ground.

After half-time, the Reds battled their way back into the game and retook the lead when Terland kept her cool to round Majasaari to supply her second of the game.

Their win was sealed when Grace Clinton leapt highest to head in from Ella Toone's perfectly delivered free-kick.

Arsenal steamroller Spurs in NLD

Scorers: Hunt (OG) 15', Caldentey 35', Maanum 51', Russo 58', Fox 90'

Arsenal served up a 5-0 drubbing of Tottenham in the North London derby at the Emirates stadium.

Renée Slegers' side struck first when a Kyra Cooney-Cross intercepted a loose ball near the touchline and her superb delivery put the ball right on the head of Alessia Russo, with Tottenham's Clare Hunt getting the final touch on the way into the back of the net.

That lead was doubled when Mariona Caldentey struck a curling effort right into the bottom corner, giving Spurs 'keeper Lize Kop no chance.

The Gunners had three when Frida Maanum tried her luck from the edge of the area, and her shot took a huge deflection and looped in.

And Russo finally did have a goal of her own when she slotted home with precision after a lung-busting run and pass from Caitlin Foord.

Just to add insult to injury for Spurs, Emily Fox unleashed a rocket in the 90th minute to make it five, to the delight of the majority of the 56,000 strong crowd.

The result leaves Arsenal in third place, three points behind Manchester United.

The WSL sides are back in league action on March 2nd, when Manchester City travel to Tottenham and Brighton host Chelsea.
