Liverpool’s summer rebuild may be set for another bold twist. According to TBR Football, the club have been contacted by representatives of Real Madrid star Rodrygo, who is open to a move after Luis Diaz decided his future lies elsewhere. The Colombian has reportedly agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich, paving the way for a high-profile departure.

Rodrygo, still only 24, has already lifted the Champions League twice and La Liga three times. Despite his success in Spain, both Madrid’s new head coach Xabi Alonso and the club hierarchy are reportedly open to a sale, especially with their forward line now brimming with options.

The Brazilian’s preference is to remain in Europe, and while Arsenal are said to be in pole position, Liverpool have been directly informed of his likely availability. Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also been contacted.
With Arne Slot preparing for his second full campaign at the helm, this potential signing feels like more than a luxury addition. Diaz’s likely exit, coupled with persistent doubts over Darwin Nunez’s long-term future, leaves a significant void on the left side of Liverpool’s attack.
Rodrygo has mostly featured on the right at Madrid but prefers the left, which aligns perfectly with the vacancy Diaz would leave behind. While Mohamed Salah’s place on the right remains untouched for now, Rodrygo’s versatility and ability to rotate across the frontline could offer Slot invaluable tactical variety.
Arsenal remain the most serious contenders, reportedly ready to outbid any rivals and offer Rodrygo a starring role on the left. Mikel Arteta is said to have made the winger his top target and has promised him a central role in the club’s attacking structure.
However, Liverpool’s track record with South American talent, Champions League football and Anfield’s unique pull might yet prove decisive. While Arsenal may have tabled the strongest financial package, Liverpool’s direct contact may signal a willingness to escalate interest if the opportunity solidifies.
With Rodrygo’s agents proactively engaging clubs and Madrid open to offers north of €90 million, Liverpool must now decide how aggressive they wish to be. Their approach in the early stages of the Slot era has been defined by calculated, targeted moves rather than scattergun spending. But the prospect of replacing Diaz with a player of Rodrygo’s calibre might prove too attractive to resist.

Rodrygo’s technical quality, Champions League experience and winning mentality scream Liverpool DNA. He’s fearless on the ball, incisive in his movement and intelligent in tight spaces. Slot is expected to favour high pressing and fluid attacking patterns, Rodrygo fits that mould beautifully.
Of course, the Diaz situation is bittersweet. He’s given everything in red but if his heart is set on Germany, we move on. Rodrygo feels like an upgrade in the making, younger, already more decorated and arguably with a higher ceiling.
Liverpool have lagged behind in recent transfer windows when it comes to blockbuster deals. Now, with rivals circling, this is a test of intent. If the club are serious about keeping themselves among Europe’s elite, it’s time to act decisively. Rodrygo in red? Make it happen.
