The Portuguese tactician will return from suspension while Matheus Cunha is still available despite his part in the fracas that followed defeat to Ipswich in the last home game. Mario Lemina could return to the lineup after missing Leicester, while Enso Gonzalez, Sasa Kalajdzic, Yerson Mosquera, Pablo Sarabia and Boubacar Traore are all out.

Pereira’s compatriot, Ruben Amorim, could welcome back Matthijs de Ligt from injury, while outcast Marcus Rashford is likely to remain sidelined by the manager. Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount are unavailable due to injury.

Form

Wolves: LLLLW

It’s been a miserable season for Wolves, but they managed to snap a four-game losing streak after sacking Gary O’Neil. Consecutive defeats to Bournemouth, Everton, West Ham and Ipswich spelled the end for the 41-year-old head coach’s rein. They immediately went out and beat Leicester 3-0 away for their third Premier League win of the season.

Man United: LWWLL

The Red Devils are not experiencing the bounce they would have hoped for under new manager Ruben Amorim. They have lost four of their nine games under the Portuguese, with three of those coming in their last five matches.

Defeat to Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford was followed by victories of Viktoria Plzen and Manchester City, but the derby win didn’t spark a rejuvenation. Spurs knocked them out of the League Cup and Bournemouth taught them a lesson on their own patch, winning 3-0.

Last Meeting

Wolves 3-4 Man United, Premier League, 1 February 2024

This fixture bore witness to a rip-roaring goal fest last season. Rashford opened the scoring for Man United with a tidy side-foot finish inside the first five minutes before Rasmus Hojlund put them two-up in the 22nd minute.

It was a relatively sedate encounter until the final quarter of the game as five goals were scored. Pablo Sarabia converted a penalty to pull one back, but Scott McTominay restored their two-goal lead shortly after.

Undeterred, Wolves got their second through Max Kilman before Pedro Neto sensationally equalised in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Their hearts were broken moments later however, as Kobbie Mainoo danced past defenders before cooly finishing for the winner and his first Premier League goal.
