Former AS Monaco captain Wissam Ben Yedder (34) is set to join Iranian side Sepahan SC on a short-term deal, according to a report from RMC Sport.
The former France international has not played a game since May but this hasn’t kept him out of the headlines. In November, the forward was found guilty of sexual assault while intoxicated. He avoided prison time despite the guilty verdict.
Clubs have even shown interest, despite other judicial cases still being open. Notably, Montpellier HSC, who are at risk of relegation to Ligue 2, and Italian side Venezia have both manifested interest. The latter pulled out of the deal in February. The decision not to sign the former Sevilla man is one made by the ownership of Venezia, currently 19th in Serie A, and one influenced by off-field matters, Gianluca Di Marzio reported at the time.
RMC Sport understands that Ben Yedder will now join Sepahan SC in Iran on a deal until the end of the season. The transfer is set to be completed this weekend. There is an option included in the deal to extend for multiple years.
