Manchester United are still tracking a midfielder to improve their squad this summer.
United have struggled in the midfield area at times this pre-season and this was evident from Manuel Ugarte’s horrendous showing versus Everton last night.
Ruben Amorim’s side have largely focused on their attack this summer with the recruitment of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. They are also currently pursuing striker Benjamin Sesko.
Numerous midfielders have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, including Amorim’s former player at Sporting CP, Morten Hjulmand.
The Red Devils have also been credited with an interest in players such as Douglas Luiz and Javi Guerra.
One player that has long been linked to a move to Old Trafford is that of Leicester City’s Ndidi.
With his side’s relegation to the Championship, the player is very likely to depart this summer to continue his career in the top division.
It was reported last month that the defensive midfielder was hoping to join United this transfer window.
He has also generated interest from other Premier League clubs like West Ham United.
Nonetheless, it is a club from outside of England who has made the first concrete move for the player.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that “Besiktas have had a €9.5m bid for Wilfred Ndidi accepted by Leicester City.”
He also added that it is “now up to Ndidi to decide with several other options this summer.”
Besiktas manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be well aware of the player’s abilities having faced off against him numerous times when he was manager at Manchester United.
