An insight into a roadblock encountered in the ongoing contract negotiations between La Liga giants Real Madrid and attacking star Vinícius Jr. has early this week been provided.
The info comes courtesy of ESPN, and confirms that the Brazilian’s entourage have no intention of accepting the terms currently on offer.
Vinícius, at present, is understood to earn around €17 million-per-year in Spain’s capital.
In talks over a new deal, the winger was keen to see this base figure increase to €20 million, with a further €10 million in potential bonuses.
Initially, Real Madrid appeared to be on the same page when it came to as much.
As confirmed by ESPN Brasil, however, after Vinícius endured something of an underwhelming individual campaign in 2024/25, Los Blancos’ renewal offer did not include the discussed €10 in add-ons.
For this reason:
‘Negotiations to renew the attacker’s contract are stalled. A source close to the player admitted to ESPN that, at this point, it doesn’t make sense to extend his current contract given the club’s proposed fees.’
