The powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid will imminently hand over a £5 million payment to their counterparts at Chelsea.

That’s according to English outlet The Telegraph, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the situation.

The payment in question, incredibly, relates to the deal between Real and Chelsea for Eden Hazard.

The former, of course, secured wide-man Hazard’s signing from Chelsea back in the summer of 2019, amid widespread fanfare.

The move, all told, proved itself to be nothing short of a disaster, with the Belgian have managed only just over a half-century of La Liga appearances in the colours of Los Blancos.

And, despite the fact that Hazard retired from the game altogether last summer, he continues to cost his former employers dear.

As per The Telegraph, Real Madrid’s recent qualification for the final of the Champions League triggered a clause in their deal with Chelsea from five years ago.

The capital giants will now be forced to fork over an additional £5 million bonus payment to their counterparts at Stamford Bridge.
