This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They report that the gulf state will likely host the competition next year if AC Milan reach the Coppa Italia final, but not if Inter do.

It is still up in the air whether Saudi Arabia will play host to next season’s Supercoppa Italiana.

The Middle Eastern nation has hosted the last three editions of the Supercoppa. In the two most recent ones, it has been a four-team mini-tournament rather than a one-off match.

However, the Saudi organizers have yet to make a final decision on whether they will make it four in a row.

A key consideration for the organizers is which teams are in the competition.

For the Saudi organizers, a priority is having teams with perceived glamour and prestige as well as large fanbases involved.

That means, above all, Inter, AC Milan, and Juventus.

It seems all but certain that Inter Milan and Napoli will be in the Supercoppa Italiana next season.

The Nerazzurri and the Partenopei currently enjoy a notable lead at the top of the Serie A table.

Therefore, barring a genuine collapse by either in league form, both should qualify. Whichever of the two rivals prevail in the title race.

Meanwhile, Bologna have one foot in the Coppa Italia final after their emphatic win over Empoli in a semifinal first leg last week.

That is not really ideal for the Saudi organizers. The Rossoblu are hardly a big name on par with Inter, Milan, or Juventus.

Therefore, the question of which team gets the other spot from the Coppa final could be crucial.

Inter and Milan drew 1-1 in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semifinal. Therefore, there is truly all to play for in the second leg later this month.

If the Rossoneri were to go through to the final, it would likely push Saudi Arabia towards hosting the 2026 Supercoppa.

The organizers would be content to have both Inter and Milan participating.

On the other hand, Inter reaching the Coppa final in addition to finishing in one of the top two spots in the Serie A table would mean that another spot in the Supercoppa would go to the team that finishes third in the league table.

At the moment, that looks likely to be Atalanta.

The Saudi organizers of the Supercoppa are not too keen on having La Dea in the competition.

On the other hand, should Juventus sneak into third ahead of Atalanta, it could be a different story. The organizers would certainly consider the Bianconeri suitable.
