La Liga champions Barcelona will kick the defence of their title into gear with a trio of fixtures on the road.
As much was confirmed by way of La Liga’s schedule release on Wednesday morning.
First up for Hansi Flick’s troops is a visit to Son Moix to face RCD Mallorca, followed by another away day at Levante, and a third at Rayo Vallecano.
So, why exactly has such a schedule been pencilled in for Barcelona?
It actually comes as a favour on the part of the Spanish football authorities, to aid the Blaugrana’s Spotify Camp Nou return efforts.
As per a report from Diario Sport, the expectation is that Barca’s beloved ground will not be ready to host a competitive fixture until the early weeks of September.
To allow for as much, the Catalans will therefore head on the road until gameweek 4 in La Liga.
At this point, the plan is for Flick and co. to take to the Camp Nou pitch for the first time in well over two years in a meeting with Valencia on the weekend of September 13-14.
