Liam Delap joined Chelsea ahead of the tournament with lofty expectations.

Not only did the striker inherit the infamous no.9 shirt upon his reported £30m move to Stamford Bridge but also was touted by Maresca as England's future marksman.

It's easy to see why hopes are high for Delap after scoring 12 goals in 37 Premier League outings as Ipswich Town's long-awaited return ended in relegation.

Delap will face competition from fellow front man Nicolas Jackson to lead the line in Atlanta, with Maresca refusing to confirm him as an automatic starter.

But the 22-year-old is ready to ignite if called upon by the Londoners.
