The Los Angeles Galaxy have a fairly busy schedule this week. Luckily, both of their matches are at home in Carson, California.

While the six-time MLS Cup winners are further away from the playoff picture than they would like, they are well and alive in another ongoing tournament, the 2025 Leagues Cup.

With two games at Dignity Health Sports Park, the LA Galaxy have the chance to please their fans. Last time they took the field, they were smacked 4-0 by the Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders are also in the Knockout Round of the Leagues Cup.

First up, the defending MLS Cup champions will host Pachuca on Wednesday at Dignity Health Sports Park. This game is the beginning of the Knockout Round for the 2025 Leagues Cup.

The LA Galaxy earned this match by winning twice and losing once in a penalty kick shootout during the group play. Their 4-0 shutout against Santos Laguna showed the soccer world that despite being at the bottom of the MLS Western Conference standings, that they could still do some damage during international play.

The only times these two team played was 18 years ago. As part of the 2007 Concacaf Champions Cup Tournament, the LA Galaxy won 2-1 in the first leg against Pachuca. In the next leg, the Galaxy closed it out with a 1-1 tie.

The LA Galaxy are unbeaten against Pachuca. Hopefully, the MLS Western Conference's last-place team doesn't lose to another previously beaten team. Inter Miami won for the first time in a regular-season match against the Los Angeles Galaxy last Saturday.

The last time the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Colorado Rapids faced each other was back in June. It was the Galaxy's only loss that month as they fell 2-0 on the road.

A season ago, the LA Galaxy owned the Rapids during the postseason. In the best-of-three opening round, one team scored nine times in the series and the other team scored once. The team that scored nine goals eventually became the 2024 MLS Cup champions.

The emergence of Marco Reus this season will soften the blow of not having Dejan Joveljic and Riqui Puig to wreak havoc on the Rapids' defense and goalkeeper.

Aside from the two goals that LA Galaxy goalie Novak Micovic allowed midway through the first half, it was a pretty even match. Djordje Mihailovic scored in the 24th minute and Calvin Harris scored in the 28th for Colorado against the Galaxy two months.

The rematch is this Saturday with kickoff at 7:30 p.m (PT) and 9:30 p.m. (CT). While the LA Galaxy are unlikely to make the playoffs, the Colorado Rapids are looking to return as one of the lower seeds for a second year in a row.
