The legendary striker is set to leave Leicester in the summer after 13 incredibly successful years with the club.
Jamie Vardy's incredible 13-year spell with Leicester City is set to come to an end in the summer, with the striker announcing that he will leave the club as they prepare for their return to the Championship.
Few players have made an impact as great as the 38-year-old has for as little as the Foxes paid to Fleetwood Town in 2012, but that £1m fee is perhaps the greatest money ever paid by the East Midlands outfit.
After helping them to promotion to the Premier League in 2014, Vardy went on to win the Premier League, Community Shield and FA Cup with the club while also playing in both the Champions League and Europa League.
With his time at the King Power Stadium coming to a close, Football League World has taken a look at his first words as a Leicester player all those years ago.
He scored 31 goals and registered 17 assists in 36 appearances for the Lancashire outfit before making the jump up to the Championship, but his confidence was clear to see in his first interview as Leicester's next big thing.
He told BBC Radio Leicester (via: BBC Sport): "I got to sit down for a chat with Nigel [Pearson] and this is where I wanted to come.
"You see the facilities and I thought, 'yes, I can see myself playing here'. And obviously because the manager wanted me as well it made the decision easier.
"He said he'd been watching me for quite a while, obviously if I've caught his eye I must have been doing something right.
"The standard of the players is going to be a lot better. But I've played in the FA Cup a few times this year and managed to do well against the league clubs and hopefully I can carry that on."
Vardy continued: "Competition for places can only benefit you. If you know you've got that much competition then you're just going to have to work that extra bit harder so you can catch the gaffer's eye.
"If you're not playing with any confidence then you're not going to play well at all. You've always got to have that inner confidence and that comes with the goals."
At 38, Vardy has had a storied career, scoring nearly 200 goals for Leicester in just under 500 games, while lifting two major trophies for a club that had been forced to watch their East Midlands rivals Derby County and Nottingham Forest taste success in the past.
His efforts in the 2015/16 campaign were incredible, linking up fantastically with Riyad Mahrez to help the Foxes to the Premier League title.
Although his final season at the King Power Stadium has not gone to plan, few will blame him for his decision to leave as he looks to write a new chapter in his storied career, while he will be looking to end his time in blue as well as he can.
Nevertheless, Vardy has written himself into folklore at Leicester, and he will forever go down as a club legend after arriving without the fanfare that he is leaving with.
