"We are interested in getting Cardiff," Bale told Sky Sports.

.

"It's my home club, it's where I grew up and my uncle used to play for them. To be involved with an ownership group would be a dream come true.

"It's a club close to my heart. It's where I grew up and I would love to be able to be a part of growing Cardiff and taking it to the Premier League where it belongs.

"I know how amazing the Welsh fans and Cardiff fans are. It would be amazing to try and do something together."

He added: "We are trying to engage with Cardiff and more news will come out on that in the future but hopefully we can get something done."

Bale himself had previously been linked with a potential investment in Plymouth Argyle but that now appears to have been ruled out. He told talkSPORT:

"No, I have no idea where Plymouth came from to be honest with you."

As first revealed by The Athletic, Bale is leading a consortium that has made an approach to buy Cardiff.

His group sent a letter of intent to current owner Vincent Tan last month, outlining their interest and including financial details.

Although the proposal was rejected, Bale’s determination to be involved with his hometown club remains strong. The club have declined to comment

Bale’s desire to buy Cardiff City comes at a time when football club ownership is becoming increasingly high-profile - with athletes, entertainers, and celebrities seeking deeper ties to the game.

For Bale, however, this is about more than image or investment - his links to the club are personal, rooted in family, community, and a passion for Welsh football.

Though his consortium’s initial bid was rejected, his public affirmation suggests the story isn’t over.

With former teammates Aaron Ramsey briefly involved in the dugout and Luka Modric now part-owner of rivals Swansea, Bale’s potential return to Welsh football via Cardiff would carry both emotional and symbolic weight.

As the club prepares for life in League One, fresh leadership could offer a new chapter - one led by a national icon eager to rebuild from the ground up.
