What Galatasaray need to sign Calhanoglu from Inter | OneFootball

Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu remains of interest to Galatasaray in his native Turkey, but as things stand, no formal offers have yet come in for the Nerazzurri conductor. Here is what needs to happen if the 31-year-old is to leave San Siro this season.

Calhanoglu, who has spent the last eight years in San Siro, first with Milan, and the last four seasons with Inter, but reports in Italy claim that his spell in Serie A could be coming to an end if an appropriate offer arrives for him this summer.

Galatasaray have expressed an interest in the Turkey international. Recent reports claim that Okan Buruk’s side are prepared to offer Calhanoglu around €10m per season in wages, which is a significant increase from the €6.5m he earns on his current Nerazzurri deal.

Reports in Italy have suggested that Inter will seek a fee in the region of €40m to sell Calhanoglu this summer, and that they have already begun considering potential replacements, including the likes of Lazio’s Nicolo Rovella, Atalanta’s Ederson and Parma’s Adrian Bernabe.

Reports from Calciomercato.com on Tuesday claim that while Inter will still request a €40m fee from interested parties this summer, a genuine cash offer of €30m could be enough to convince the Nerazzurri into parting with Calhanoglu.

The 31-year-old is still with the team in the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup, but has not yet been able to feature at the tournament through injury.

“I can say that we’re in constant contact with him, and I haven’t noticed any discomfort or dissatisfaction about being here,” Inter President Beppe Marotta said when asked about Calhanoglu’s situation over the weekend.

“He’s currently injured and training separately, but over the past few days he’s consistently shown great respect and professionalism.

“We have nothing to reproach him for. The rumours going around are typical of the transfer market, amplified by this official competition, around which certain comments — some even deliberately misleading — tend to circulate.”
