Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has mentioned various things about selling the Championship club, following an increase in fan pressure for him to sell up.

The calls for Chansiri to sell have more than intensified after the financial issue earlier in the season where the club failed to pay players and staff their March wages on time - they were paid on April 7th.

Chansiri has been the owner of Wednesday since taking over from Milan Mandaric in 2015 - in a deal worth £37.5m, and they've had their fair share of issues since his arrival.

For the past two seasons - a registration embargo has impacted any transfer dealings. This has been in place because of previous financial problems, and it means they haven't allowed to register any players without getting consent from the league first.

In April 2025 the Thai businessman penned an open letter to supporters, admitting that he is "not a perfect owner" but did insist he "loves this club". He mentioned he would be open for new ownership under the right circumstances - but it's not exactly his first choice.

"I am not looking to sell," Chansiri wrote, "but would consider if a buyer would leave the Owls in a better place."

This is more than a little tweak from his stance back in December 2018 when, during a fan forum, he said that he'd put the club on the market to many people who would want to buy.

According to The Star, Chansiri has already rejected an offer for the club which he described as "derisory" from an American consortium, which lacked proof of funds.

Despite Chansiri's seemingly reluctance to sell without a really good offer, there have been several interested parties that have emerged as potential buyers.

There have been rumours that the Walton-Penner family who own NFL team Denver Broncos have already submitted a bid for the South Yorkshire club.

Then as per journalist Alan Nixon, Moroccan billionaire Anas Sefrioui is another who has been linked with interest in potentially purchasing the club.

Although the players did receive their outstanding March wages, the incident did nearly trigger a three-window embargo from the EFL - and that'll be automatically applied if similar issues arise again before July.

Fan protests resulted off the back of this. Supporters were encouraged to turn their backs on the pitch in the 10th minute of a home game against Oxford United, ten being the symbol for Chansiri's decade-long ownership.

Even though Chansiri apologised for the wage situation, the pressure does continue to mount after how many broken promises Wednesday fans have been put through.
