West Ham will be without Crysencio Summerville and George Earthy for their pre-season tour of the United States.

Earthy suffered an ankle ligament injury in training before the team headed to Germany for a weeklong training camp last week.

Summerville travelled with the squad to Germany as he steps up his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury, but is still building back to fitness after missing the end of last season.

The Dutch winger only took part in individualised training in Germany and the trip to America is deemed not to be beneficial to his recovery due to the amount of travel.

Summerville and Earthy will continue their rehabilitation back at Rush Green.

West Ham hope Summerville will be ready to take part in team training ahead of the new season when the squad return from America.

Summerville has been out since January and his return to fitness will not be rushed. He is not expected to play any part in the opening weeks of the Premier League season, though he is viewed as an important part of Graham Potter’s team.

There is no timeframe on when Earthy will return but it is not believed to be a serious injury.

Academy graduate Earthy, who impressed on loan at Bristol City last season, had been set to play an important role in pre-season, with Potter earmarking him and Freddie Potts as two players who could compete for first team minutes next term.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder will hope to return to training before West Ham start the season away to Sunderland on August 16.

Edson Alvarez will join up late with the West Ham squad in the US.

The midfielder has been granted permission for a longer summer break after leading Mexico to glory in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which finished on July 7.

Alvarez has been on holiday in Puerto Rico and is expected to arrive between West Ham’s first and second matches.

West Ham will compete in the Premier League Summer Series tournament, where they face Manchester United on Sunday, Everton next Wednesday, and Bournemouth on Sunday August 3.

New signing Kyle Walker-Peters will also be part of the squad that travels out to the States.

The 28-year-old full-back joined the Hammers as a free agent on Sunday following the expiry of his contract with relegated Southampton.
